amusing images that point to a serious question: what was (is) fascism? The word is bandied about in the most incongruous ways. Is fascism an unrepeatable and archaic extreme ideology that is off the continuum of acceptable ideologies, or is it still on the spectrum, and a pole toward which societies can drift, knowingly or unknowingly (as in waking up one morning and "smelling" the fascism, or as in the list of "early warning signs." Can one be a fascist without knowing it?
